Ingredients:
- 450g self raising flour
- 85g caster sugar
- 115g butter
- 230ml milk
- One egg beaten (for the glaze)
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas mark 6.
In a bowl, rub the flour, sugar and butter together with your fingers until it resembles bread crumbs.
Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk, and collect together to make a dough.
Place it on a floured surface and roll out to about 3/4 of an inch thick.
Cut the dough out with circle cutters and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. (Make sure they’re not touching.)
Use the egg to brush on the scones, don’t use too much.
Bake for 10-15 minutes. When they’re out leave to cool, and then you can add jam and whipped cream. Enjoy with a cup of tea.

I made them for our VE day tea party on the 8th May!
YUM!
