Ingredients:
- 250g caster sugar
- 250g softened unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 medium eggs
- 250g self raising flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/gas mark 5.
Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth, and then add in the vanilla. Use the electric beaters to blend in the eggs, and make sure it’s smooth. Fold in the flour and baking powder, and mix until all the flour is blended.
Half the mixture and pour one half into a small lined baking tin, and the other in another bigger lined baking tin. Bake them for 25-30 minutes, when out leave to cool for 25 minutes while preparing to decorate.
To Decorate:
- 750g fondant
- gel food colourings of your choice
- icing sugar to dust
Decorating is a process that you can personally choose yourself. To cover the cake in fondant, dust your surface with icing sugar, and roll it out until relatively thin. Carefully place on the top of your cake and press the edges so they stay in place. Now you can decorate the cake however you like, by using the food colouring to make characters or shapes.
