Ingredients:
- 500g Unsalted butter
- 500g caster sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 500g self raising flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- food colouring 4-6 colours of your choice
- lots of buttercream (either use my recipe here or buy a can of ready made, like Betty Crocker)
- some Smarties, M&Ms or other sweeties
Preheat the oven to 180c/356c fan/gas mark 4.
Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl and then add the eggs, one at a time, with the vanilla. Slowly add the flour and baking powder until it is well blended. Split the mix between 4 or 6 bowls. We only had 4 colours, but you can use 6. Add a few drops of each colour to the bowls and then pour all the colours into separate, lined baking tins. Bake for 15-20 minutes until you can stick a fork in the middle and it comes out clean. Leave to cool for 10 minutes before decorating.
To decorate: Stack the cakes on top of each other, with a layer of buttercream between each. When you have stacked them all up, cover the entire cake in buttercream and decorate with Smarties or other sweets.
ENJOY!!!
