Christmas Tree Brownies

For the Brownies:

  • 85g unsalted butter, melted
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 100g light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 200g plain flour
  • 35g cocoa powder
  • 150g chocolate chips or chopped chocolate chunks

For the decorations:

  • Icing pens (any colours)
  • Christmas sprinkles

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4. Line a square brownie baking tin with baking paper.

In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, caster sugar and brown sugar until well blended. Add in the vanilla and eggs, and keep whisking until combined. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, and fold until smooth and thick. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips/chopped chocolate chunks.

Bake for 35-40 minutes in the lined baking tin. When out of the oven, cool for at least half and hour before cutting and decorating.

When the brownies have cooled, cut them into three horizontal rows, then cut each row into triangles. Using the icing pens, ice the brownies, start at the top of the brownies and make curvy lines down to the bottom to look like tinsel on a Christmas tree. Or, you can ice them however you’d like. Finally, add on the sprinkles.
Enjoy!
